Donations and Funding
Donations
All of our services are provided FREE to our customers. We don’t think anyone should have to pay to access the beach.
If you would like to donate to us you can now donate online. Please click on the Donate Now button below.
You can also donate by cheque. Please make cheques payable to Beach Wheelchairs and send this to our charities registered address - c/o North Berwick Community Centre, 8 Law Road, North Berwick, East Lothian EH39 4PL.
You can also donate at our Beach Hut or at the container when it is open.
Funding
Thank you to everyone that supports Beach Wheelchairs. We are delighted to be very generously supported by the local communities in North Berwick and Portobello. We also organise our own fundraising activities. If you are interested in raising funds for us please get in touch!
We are incredibly grateful for the funding received by a range of local and national funders. Our Board apply to funders to enable us to purchase beach wheelchairs, pay our staff and help us maintain our service to the highest standard.
North Berwick Ladies Golf Club
Over the past two years the Ladies Section of the North Berwick Golf Club has supported us through a wide range of fundraising activities with members and guests alike.
The total raised over the last 3 Captaincy’s is an outstanding £21,421! This is an incredible achievement and a real reflection of the Club’s spirit goodwill, and willingness to support a cause that makes such a meaningful difference. To everyone who took part in events, made donations, volunteered their time, or supported the North Berwick Golf Club fundraising in any way - THANK YOU!
Thanks to the funds raised we have been able to purchase a new all terrain power wheelchair to replace our old power wheelchair. Our power wheelchairs have become the most used wheelchairs in our fleet and over the 5 years of use our wheelchair was used 100s of times every year!
The new power chair significantly enhances access to the area’s beaches, providing greater independence and opportunity for individuals and families who rely on specialist equipment to enjoy the beach safely.
A spokesperson for Beach Wheelchairs said:
“The funding has made a substantial difference to our work, helping us meet growing demand for accessible beach wheelchairs. Support such as this ensures the charity can continue expanding its provision and maintaining its fleet.”
A spokesperson for North Berwick Golf Club said:
“North Berwick Golf Club has been delighted to support this vital local charity over the past two years and is so proud that, thanks to everyone who took part in the fundraising events, a new electric wheelchair is now in operation.”
Support from both the Ladies’ and Men’s Sections has been described as “nothing short of phenomenal,” with particular thanks extended to Ladies’ Captain Joan Lunn and Fiona Maciver (previous ladies captain) for their passion and dedication. New Ladies’ Captain Jane Nelson will now continue the Club’s strong commitment to supporting other local causes.
