Our volunteers are key to what we do. They make our charity work.

Our volunteers hire out our specialist beach wheelchairs to let people get on the beach with friends and family, and with their club, group or school. They arrive at the Beach Hut or container and unlock it, get wheelchairs ready and set up the hoist if needed. Then they greet our customers with a smile. Making sure that they are happy and comfortable with the wheelchair and equipment that they need to get on the beach. Ensuring they know how to keep safe and how to contact them if there are any issues.

It is quite a straightforward role although not without it’s occasional challenges. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and no particular experience is needed, rather just a desire to help people enjoy our beautiful beaches. Although someone who likes meeting people and is flexible with their time is perfect!

A special thank you to our Board who are all volunteers and are key to keeping the show on the road! Rising to the challenge of fundraising, managing volunteers, checking out new equipment, maintaining current equipment, keeping a track on finances, organising insurance, marketing our project and everything else you can think of!

We are also really fortunate to have loads of volunteers helping us in very specific roles. In particular carrying out repairs and odd jobs for us and maintaining equipment, doing artwork for us, helping manage this webpage and fundraise for us.
